Rookie + Ace Multi-Sport is a brand new 9,000 sq. ft. facility located inside Catalyst137. Our facility features a Padel court, a Pickleball court and a Multi-Sport court and we focus on:
"Physical literacy is the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge, and understanding to value and take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life."
– The International Physical Literacy Association, May 2014
Why commit to a full season of one sport when you are unsure if your child will enjoy it?
Our programs are designed to offer kids the opportunity to try a variety of sports in a unique and fun environment. We strive to help kids develop physical competence by practicing the fundamental skills required to play a variety of sports: running, jumping, throwing, catching and striking an object. In our Multi-Sport programs, all participants will use age-appropriate equipment and simplified game play to learn, have fun and improve confidence.
Treadmills are fine but it's more fun to chase a ball.
We offer programs, leagues and court rentals for adults who want to play the sports they love or try a new sport in a relaxed and unintimidating environment.

While Rookie + Ace Multi-Sport is a new business, Derek Obermeyer and Cindy Eadie have been involved in the local sport community for 19 years. Derek is the owner of The Zone Training, which is a hockey training centre that offers skill development programming for children and adults. Cindy is the VP of Operations at The Zone and manages the programming and operations at The Zone’s facilities in Waterloo and Guelph.
Derek grew up in Kitchener and has always had a passion for sport – particularly hockey, golf and skiing. Cindy is from Brantford and focused on hockey and softball in her athletic career. They both played elite levels of hockey and Cindy also pursued softball with the national team, most notably competing in the Olympic Games in 2004 (Athens) and the world championships in 2006 (Beijing). Their involvement in sport and keen interest in business have helped them grow The Zone Training into a well-known and respected facility for children to learn basic skating and hockey skills, then continue to develop those skills in hockey development programs, camps and leagues.
Rookie + Ace Multi-Sport follows the same concept of introducing people to sport but it offers instruction for a variety of sports such as soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, floor hockey, pickleball, padel and more!
